Managing Associate Attorney Taniya D. Reaves is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and has been a trial lawyer since May 2017 after graduating from the North Carolina Central School of Law. She works substantially on Local Government Law (including Tax Foreclosures and Tax Appeals before the Board of Equalization and Review and the Property Tax Commission, Child Support Enforcement, Adult and Child Protective Services, DSS Investigations, Planning and Zoning Enforcement, Building Permitting and Inspections, Building Code Enforcement, Administrative Search Warrants, Eminent Domain). Throughout her career, Taniya has tried numerous cases involving Landlord/Tenant Law, Incompetency and Guardianship Proceedings, Probate Matters regarding Decedent’s Estates (with or without a Will), and General Civil Litigation matters (including Family Law, Domestic Violence and Restraining Orders, Real Property Consultation and Litigation, and Contract Law). She also engages in Estate Planning.
Taniya is licensed to practice law in the federal and state courts of North Carolina and in Washington, D.C. Since 2017, Taniya has maintained a 5.0-star rating from Martindale-Avvo Law Directory which is the highest rating available for legal ability and ethical standards.
Taniya worked for Guilford County Local Government from May 2017 through October 2025 most recently as one of its Deputy County Attorneys and Civil Litigation Specialist. She represented Guilford County in both federal and state courts. She was selected by the Elder Justice Committee in January 2025 for her legal advocacy and tenacity for assisting multidisciplinary teams in securing and stabilizing the most vulnerable residents in Guilford County, our elderly population which has continued to grow exponentially, and which require monitoring to prevent abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of that population. She also received an award from Legal Aid of North Carolina in December 2021 for participating in its expunction project successfully completing and obtaining more than 50 expunctions per year over a four-year period.
Taniya has spent a portion of her professional life serving on the boards of non-profit corporations inside North Carolina and advocating for public school students with special needs which goes hand-in-hand with her secondary passion for the law – Education. Taniya obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Chapel Hill, graduating summa cum laude, where she also obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology.
